Fire Station located at No. 54 Sienkiewicz Street
Title
Fire Station located at No. 54 Sienkiewicz Street
Description
In 1895 the 3rd Division of the Łódź Fire Department was moved from Piotrkowska Street to No. 54 Mikołajewska (Sienkiewicz) Street. After the creation of the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades of the Republic of Poland in September 1921, No. 54 Sienkiewicz Street housed the headquarters of Łódź's primary firefighters' unit. In the 1920s the force acquired its first fire trucks. This photograph shows one of these newfangled trucks used for extinguishing conflagrations standing in the fire station.
